TIMES HONGKONG, JAKARTA – The President Director of PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia (HMI), Widodo Sucipto expressed his support for Meiwa Corporation (MEIWA), Japan to evaluate the Step Temperature Acid Leach (STAL) hydrometallurgical technology as preparation for the commercial-scale development stage. For this case, they have some technical supports from Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC).

According to Widodo Sucipto, the interest in and evaluation of the technology by a Japanese company is a great opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the two countries. Besides being able to expand cooperation, Widodo said, it can also build new innovations in the electric vehicle value chain amidst the increasingly widespread development of a post-carbon society.

Through this attempt, HMI will work closely with MEIWA and JOGMEC to evaluate STAL technology. They  consider ways to create a stable supply chain from Indonesia to Japan in the near future through STAL technology, as a national technological innovation owned by HMI.

As for your information, STAL technology is HMI's hydrometallurgical nickel processing technology which is capable of processing low-grade nickel that has been deposited so far. It is known to be an environmentally friendly technology and low cost.

Meanwhile, HMI or Hydrotech Metal Indonesia is a business entity that is part of the Trinitan Group. Established in 2020, HMI has a focus on research and development (R&D) of mineral processing technology in Indonesia.(*)
